PH Embassy in Muscat Conducts Consular Outreach in Salalah

MUSCAT 09 January 2019 — As part of its mandate to provide consular services to Filipinos under its jurisdiction, the Philippine Embassy in Oman conducted another consular outreach to the Filipino community in Salalah on 14 December 2018.

The consular outreach team processed 93 passport applications, one visa application, and 32 other consular services which include authentication, notarization, certification of documents, registration of birth, and NBI Clearance applications.  The Embassy’s Assistance to Nationals (ATN) Officer was also available in case of walk-in overseas Filipinos in distress.

The participating members of the Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO)-Muscat also processed 32 Overseas Filipino Welfare Administrative (OWWA) membership renewals and an Overseas Employment Certificate (OEC) application, verified 10 employment contracts, and attended to a labor welfare case.

During the Outreach, the team also met the new incoming officers of Filcom Salalah, the major Filipino association in Salalah affiliated to the Filipino Social Club (FILCOSOC), the only host government-recognized Filipino association in Oman.

Salalah is the second largest city in Oman, with an estimated population of 375,000.  The Embassy, located 1,000 kilometers away, endeavors to organize a consular outreach every quarter to service the needs of the estimated 10,000 Filipinos residing in the city.
