BACOLOD CITY — President Rodrigo Roa Duterte on Saturday, October 27, attended Bacolod City’s 39th MassKara Festival and commended the local government for the success of this year’s celebration.

“It is my pleasure to join you once again in celebrating this year’s MassKara Festival,” the President said during his remarks here at the city’s public plaza.

“This event is truly a showcase of unique cultural heritage and rich history of your hometown — the City of Smiles,” President Duterte added.

He also lauded the craftsmanship and talent that have been showcased throughout the entire festivities, noting that the MassKara Festival is not only a time for revelry and colorful costumes but also “a proof of the Filipino resilience that overcomes adversity through cooperation and perseverance.”

“The colorful and dynamic spirit of the Bacolodnons is indeed a true reflection of our identity as a people,” he continued.

According to President Duterte, the 80th City Charter Anniversary of Bacolod would serve as a reminder to both the public servants and Filipino citizens to never hesitate in lending a helping hand and a warm smile to those in need, especially in times of calamities and distress.

He also urged everyone to remain supportive of this administration’s programs and policies that aim to institute genuine reforms in governance.

“I am optimistic that with the important contributions of Bacolod City [to] our tourism and economic development, we will be able to achieve our hopes and aspirations for our beloved nation,” said President Duterte.
