Chinese company seeks PH abaca

Zhuzhou Times Fiber Pioneer Material Technology Co. Ltd. express their intention to source out abaca fibers from the country during a courtesy meeting with Agriculture Secretary Manny F. Piñol on October 23, 2018 at the DA Central Office in Quezon City. Within the next five years, the Chinese company targets to source about 25,000 metric tons of local abaca fibers to be utilized for electronics, food industry (tea bags), cigarette paper, and medical disposals. The Department of Agriculture will review their proposal to set up facilities for abaca farmers.
